According to the National Bureau of Economic Research, the average rate on a 30-year, fixed-rate, FHA-insured mortgage was 5.15 percent in December 1956.  That was the last time rates were as low as they are today.  In addition the latest data from the National Association of Realtors shows that the benchmark Housing Affordability Index is 61% better than it was in 2006!

Why are you still sitting on a rented fence?  It’s more affordable to get into your brand new home now than it’s ever been in your lifetime.  Homes are probably more affordable now than they will be for the rest of your life – so what are you waiting for?        When you add in the $8,000 tax credit for first time home buyers (see it’s a slam dunk!

What does this mean for you?  If you’ve been sitting on the fence waiting for interest rates to bottom out – now is the time to act.   If you’ve been sitting on the fence waiting for home prices to stabilize – now is the time to act.
